Rules
This will be rather lengthy, but it is necessary reading if you want to enjoy this site fully.
First Off
This site is a MODERATE to ADVANCED roleplay. We expect literacy, meaning limited grammatical errors and at least 300 words per post. Please do not join if you believe that you will not be able to comply with these standards.
Signing Up
- Please sign up using your character’s first or last name, and then immediately change in to the character’s full name. Please do not sign up with usernames such as “ryan2913” or “harryscool2”. These account names are difficult to keep track of. Also, please do not sign up if you have no plans of completing a character 2 weeks within your registration. Being Active
- If you wish to join the site, please remember to check on it at least a couple of times a week. Nobody wants to roleplay by themselves, after all. Also, do not sign up and then disappear after a month or so. That is not very courteous, and it frustrates existing members because of threads suddenly dying.
Activity
- Posting in the C-Box or the OOC Boards does not count as activity. Ideally, each member must make at least one post every week, or at least reply to their threads within a reasonable amount of time. - Please post in the activity checks which will be held once a month. Inability to do so will lead to a character’s account being deleted. So keep your eyes peeled for those!
Character Limits - No more than five characters per member please. Please do not have five characters which are all male, or five which are all female. Try to keep a 1 : 4 ratio, at least. Also, only make characters which you can handle. We don’t want to see characters dropping all of a sudden because of ‘lack of time’.
Graphics
- Avatars have a limit of 100 x 100. Simple as that.
- Banners and siggies must not stretch the board. Those that do WILL get removed by moderators or admins.
Out of Character
- Swearing in the Out-of-Character boards and the chat box is allowed, although please do it with moderation. However, name calling, insults and discrimination will not be tolerated. Expect the Ban Hammer if you commit any of these repeatedly. Respect is the key word here. Without it, the site will not function properly, and it will surely be torn apart.
In Character
General
- No Godmodding. You cannot control other players’ characters, unless you have obtained their permission to do so. You cannot say that your character ‘hit’ another character, just like that. No, let the other player decide if their character was hit by your character’s blow. This is a very serious offence. Please PM a moderator or admin if you think that a fellow roleplayer has broken this rule.
- No Powerplaying. Nobody’s best at everything, and everybody has some sort of weakness. There are no perfect or all-powerful characters. This is another serious offence. Please PM a moderator or admin if you think that a fellow roleplayer has broken this rule.
Length
- Again, we require at least 300 words per post. This sure will be enforced strictly, and everyone is expected to comply. Do not limit yourself to just 300 words. Longer and better posts come so easily if you strive to describe your character, their thoughts, their feelings, their surroundings, the things happening around them, etc. Always challenge yourself, and you’ll be able to post quality posts all the time.
Limits
- Your characters may be in up to 2 separate threads but please keep up with them. Never bite off more than you can chew. Finally, always try to reply to a thread your character’s in as soon as possible, as it’s not polite to keep your fellow roleplayers waiting.
Language and Grammar
- Write in English please, although if your character has a different language, please limit it to their dialogue. Also, no chat speak in the IC sections, except when they’re indicated as OOC within the post. Finally, observe proper use of grammar in your posts. Tiny, infrequent errors are tolerable, nobody’s perfect after all. But please, obvious and repeated errors are rather annoying, and might lead to warnings
- Use Spell Check. Please. It’s one of the most useful posting features. Seeing spelling mistakes is definitely annoying, so please utilize this tool to minimize, or completely eradicate such errors.
Dueling
- Duels are allowed, and occasionally, are officially sanctioned by the site. The rules of no godmodding and no powerplaying are especially applicable here. Remember, nobody’s best at everything, and all characters have some sort of weakness or fear.
Common Rooms
- Please do not have your character enter another house’s common room, as they surely will not have the ability to gain access to such locations. Ask permission from an admin if you wish to enter another house’s common room, and permission will only be granted to those with a plot line.
Marriages and Pregnancies
- You have the privilege to control your character’s love life, although we believe that it is extremely unrealistic for characters to seriously discuss marriage and children at young ages. Only the sixth and seventh year students will be allowed to discuss these topics.
- Please ask for permission from the admins if you want your character to bear a child. Not all students, regardless of age, will be allowed to have children, and permission will only be granted if you supply us a satisfactory explanation.
Creatures
- Your student character is allowed to have only one owl, cat OR frog. No other pets are allowed.
- You are not allowed to suddenly become a werewolf or an animagus or metamorphagus or whatever creature. PM the Admins first.
Death
- Please inform the admins if you wish to kill off a character for a plot.
- Obviously, you cannot kill someone else’s characters without their permission and the admins’ acknowledgement.
- If you wish to kill off your own, however, please inform us first, and then supply some form of In Character explanation, such as a note or letter written by them before their suicide or death.
Lastly, this site has an account limit of 300. Be friendly and have fun getting to know other members.
